#TBT: Toyota Print Ads

In this age of digital technology, sometimes it’s easy to overlook the simple elegance of a good print ad.  Most of us exchange information online, be it from our smartphones, tablets, laptops, or desktop computers.  But it’s important to remember that there was a time when the page of a magazine or a section of a newspaper page were all you were given to show the value of your project.  Toyota published some gems back in the day, and has progressively mastered the art of print advertising.  Here are 5 of our favorite examples.

People are buzzing about the 2014 Highlander! Last month, Toyota’s wildly successful crossover SUV was named among the top five most researched vehicles on Edmunds.Com. So what is it about the Highlander that’s got everyone wanting to know more?
We might as well just call it like we see it: if you’re in the market for a family vehicle, you don’t even need to shop around. For every question or potential issue that can arise out on the road, this Toyota’s got you covered. The 2014 Highlander now has even more room– for everyone andtheir belongings. Imagine starting a family road trip without a care in the world. Relaxing, right? We’re ready for a test drive when you are.

What your Toyota says about your summer style!

What does your schedule look like right now?  With school letting out and summer on its way, your social calendar is probably getting pretty packed!  We can’t wait for the BBQs to start– not to mention the pool parties!  So when it comes to fun in the sun at summer parties, what do YOU bring to the table?  Let your Toyota do the talking.
Yaris: You bring child-like excitement to every party you attend. People love your energy; especially during these lethargic hot months. You’re the one at the party snapping fun photos on your smartphone.
Prius: It’s no secret that you are passionate about keeping the environment clean. You’re the one at the party making sure all the plastic and glass is being recycled– but you do it with a smile!  You are a great listener, which is why you have a ton of friends.
Camry:  If we had to assign you a role at a pool party, you would definitely be the lifeguard.  It’s because you’re practical: if something’s not guaranteed to show long-term value, you’re not interested. You bring a practical element to summer pool parties, creating that sense of balance everyone needs.  You also tent to be the designated driver everyone appreciates!
RAV4: “Stress” is not in your vocabulary. While people around you are worried about how they look in their swimming suits or whether or not their pasta salad is being enjoyed, you don’t sweat the small stuff. Or the big stuff, for that matter. When an obstacle presents itself, you quickly adapt to handle it—all with a smile on your face. You’re the life of the party—usually the one in the middle of the dance floor!

Be the royalty of the road behind the wheel of a Camry!

The Toyota Camry is one of the most popular cars on the road today–and the 2015 model is turning heads wherever it pops up. So, we wanted to know: would a Toyota by any other name still drive as sweet?
Turns out the name is pretty special! “Camry” is actually an Anglicized transcription of the Japanese word kanmuri, which means “crown.”  In that case–ready to feel like a king? Swing by and test drive a Camry at Toyota of Washington today! You’ll get behind the wheel knowing you’re the royalty of the road.

Age Old Trick to Test Your Tire Tread

The tread on your tires should never fall below 1/16 of an inch (1.6 millimeters) in depth. If you regularly drive on slick, wet surfaces, you may be better off with twice that much!

There's also an old trick that will give you a rough idea of how much tread depth you have left, and it requires only a penny! Take a regular ol' penny and insert Abe's head (head-down) into the tread. If Lincoln's entire head remains visible, you don't have enough tread.

If this is the case, you should bring your car into our Service Department and see about getting a new set of tires!

Tackle Travel Stress in Your Toyota!

Before there were no-gas, 100% electric cars on the road there was a family that went by the name of the Jetsons. Maybe you've heard of them!

If you have, you'll probably remember that most of us were about Elroy's age when we first saw their futuristic vehicle take flight. Up until we were adolescents like Judy, I'm sure we believed that their car was real. If your parents were anything like George and Jane, every trip was rushed and despite their best efforts, always just a bit behind schedule.

While we're not close to having consumer production flying cars, we are edging closer to semi-autonomous vehicles with manufacturer designers working hard to take technology to the next level. All of this is incredibly exciting and we find ourselves ready to rock onto the next big idea. That said, we do want to encourage you to slow down and enjoy the relaxation that you should be enjoying on the road!

Take a look at some tips we pulled together that may entice you to treat your next road trip a little less like a business engagement and more like a kickback with an old friend.

Step 1: If you're not driving, get comfy! There's no reason you can't kick off your shoes and put your feet up on the dash.

Step 2: Play your favorite song on full blast. Enjoy the fall air in your hair while you can and sing at the top of your lungs!

Step 3: Make stops along the way. While getting places in a timely manner is important to travelers, rushing makes you miss things! Stop and smell the roses...or the pumpkin patch. Whatever you happen to run into first.

Step 4: Take a deep breath and relax. Half of the battle is getting out to the car and getting onto the road.

Toyota: Lego Edition

Dear Readers,

We've seen tattoos, fans dressed in their car-pride best and key rings that weighs at least a pound with Toyota key chains. For these fans, a few Lego creations were the easiest way to express their enthusiasm.

What do you think, friends? How far will you go to share your Toyota pride?
